The Problem

Traditional zoo experiences often have confusing navigation and lack personalization, leaving visitors disengaged and without a deep understanding of the animals or their conservation needs. This results in missed opportunities for education and emotional connection.

Our Solution

A personal robot that will serve as an interactive companion, providing customizable tours, offer real-time educational content, and deliver seamless navigation tailored to individual preferences. Users would be able to rent this robot upon arrival at our zoo, through a kiosk, and customize the attractions they want to see.

Why a robot?

In surveys that our team has conducted regarding families and their children, the primary audience of zoos, the majority of parents agreed that having a personal robot would be beneficial to their child’s education and heighten the overall zoo experience.

Our Findings

Would your children benefit from a robot providing additional information about the animals at each exhibit?

55%

of families believe their child would benefit from receiving more information from a robot at the zoo.

Would you like to receive real-time notifications about events (e.g., animal feedings, shows) during your visit?

84%

of users would like to receive live alerts about events during their visit regarding feedings, shows, etc.

How useful would you find a personalized tour feature, based on your preferences?

68%

of users would find a personal tour feature useful.

Have you ever gotten lost or confused while following a zoo map or directions?

“Yes, depending on the walkways it’s hard to distinguish where I am”

“Yes, there are pretty complicated structures and its hard to see which direction you're supposed to go.”

“Yes, the scale is off, making it confusing. The signage is also cluttered, and not clear.”

Do you feel the information available at the zoo is sufficient for understanding the animals and exhibits?

“No, I would like to know more details about the animals”

“No, most zoos provide enough information for the public, but the people who have a passion for zoos and animals already know the posted information.”

“No, for someone who has visited the zoo dozens of times, the lack in some places is irritating.”
